Summer has passed, but things are still heating up in Texas!
Texas Women Leading Government started earlier this year by holding four lunch meetings across the State. We had over 200 women participate in these lunches to talk about what they would like to do to change the number of women in executive positions across the state ( #13percent). We will continue to host regional lunches in the coming year as well.
In addition to the lunches, some of the cool activities we organized to draw women into the conversation, included a golf outing/lesson and a boat tour. In response to an idea at one of the lunches, we hosted a pop-up reception at the Texas City Management Association Annual Conference in June.
We are now getting officially organized and continue to meet to get to know each other and spread enthusiasm about local government. Our areas of concentration are in Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Gulf Coast, South Texas, and Central Texas. We are committed to being more than #13percent!
